KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Unknown armed men gunned down two local officials in the southern Kandahar province on Saturday, an official said.
"Unidentified armed men opened fire on the car of Gul Mohammad Giran, the governor for Shahr-e-Safa district in Kandahar city today, killing him and injuring his bodyguard. In a span of half an hour in a similar incident, head of the education department of Dand district Jalil Khan was shot dead," spokesman for the provincial government Aziz Ahmad Azizi told Xinhua.
Without providing more details, the official said that investigation is underway.
