AMMAN, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- China secured the bronze medal at the 2nd Asian Women's U16 Volleyball Championship after edging Japan in a five-set thriller on Saturday.
At Prince Hamzah Hall in Hussein Youth City, Japan took the closely contested first set 28-26, but China fought back to win the next two sets 25-16 and 25-21. Japan leveled the score with a 25-21 fourth set, before China sealed the victory 15-13 in the deciding set.
South Korea captured the title after defeating Chinese Taipei 3-2 in the final.
The top four teams, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, China and Japan, earned qualification for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U17 World Championship. ■
